Thank you for an astonishingly smooth move-in & start of classes

Dear faculty and staff;

I’ve had a bird’s-eye view of what the Nazareth community accomplished this past move-in week and the start of classes, and it was nothing short of astonishing!

Can students come together with an extraordinary spirit of responsibility and care for others? Can parents feel comfortable moving their students in a safe and healthy way, entrusting their care to us with hope and positivity?
Can a large group of students move in conscientiously, following the guidelines to protect our entire community? Can faculty and staff bring new and innovative approaches to educating, engaging, and supporting our students?

The answer is a resounding YES!
Our community accomplished this and more.

And so I extend my heartfelt thanks to ALL who have been involved in making the student move-in process and the start of classes the smoothest I have ever witnessed during the most challenging time we collectively have ever experienced.

This week I have felt students’ excitement to be here on campus. I felt the energy of a devoted group of parents who, in a remarkable show of trust, hope, and unity, were unusually calm throughout the move-in process. Our community of dedicated faculty and staff across the entire campus has come together seamlessly to welcome all to campus warmly and safely.
Thank you!

I walked around over the weekend and this week, delighted to see the behaviors we’d hoped for, happening with the commitment, the sense of purpose, the ability to change that is the Nazareth way – consistent mask-wearing and also meaningful student engagement; social distancing while providing unmatched support of our students.

I have enjoyed conversations with many students, faculty, and staff, and I am fascinated by the sensitive, heartfelt, attentive observations of our re-engagement in learning as we join together to fulfill our academic mission during these unprecedented global times of pandemic. Thank you for your openness, your wholehearted engagement, and your generosity in sharing your thoughts and ideas. I look forward to many more of these conversations.

I am seeing so much of what makes Nazareth such a special and strong community and feel especially proud and thankful to be a part of it.

I am mindful of the great lengths so many have taken to make this week, and this semester, happen.  And I am mindful of the deep sense of commitment and purpose that is inspiring this community effort. I know we will see these same kinds of behaviors, this same commitment, in the weeks and months ahead. We will take each day as it comes, excited to greet the next. As I’ve said before and as this week has shown: We’ve got this!

Warm thanks,

Beth
