Welcome to the fall semester!

Hello and welcome to our new academic year! I'm excited that we'll soon be together on campus.

Welcome to our newest students! You are joining a wonderful community, full of people who care about each other and our world and are here for you in every way. We are eager to get to know you as you bring your unique self to Naz — where you will feel belonging in our community and feel emboldened to pursue your passions!

And welcome back to our returning students. Every day, you make our Naz community the special place it is. We’ve missed you this summer, and we are eager to connect, hear about your summer adventures, and begin a year full of wonderful possibilities and transformative learning and impact.

I continue to reflect on the significance of the times in which we are living, and draw inspiration and direction from our founders who created Nazareth as an antidote to a time so similar to our own.

What does it mean to be an antidote? An antidote counteracts or remedies something that threatens well-being. It can be a different way of approaching or doing something, a new direction, or a vision that compels positive action.

In this way, I think of each of you as an antidote to troubling times with all the promise of your new thinking to lead our positive future.

I think of our learning community as an antidote. Ours is a changemaker movement inviting us all to gather across boundaries, explore perspectives, imagine possibilities, envision a socially just and healthy future, and put ideas into action for impact, for humanity and for our world.

Choosing Nazareth is choosing to be part of something vitally important — a changemaker movement — that strives to make a positive difference in a world that is at a rare inflection point, a once-in-a-century time of revolutionary change.

As we see around us, a time of revolutionary change can feel overwhelming and can be polarizing. Our own antidote for the stresses of our times is to be part of a community dedicated to caring about one another and collectively making a positive difference. When approached with the shared purpose and hope of collaborating on defining antidotes that will transcend to greater equity, health and well-being for all, we unite in a hopeful purpose. This is Nazareth! You are Nazareth! We are Nazareth!

See you very soon. I am excited for a wonderful year together!
