Honoring Veterans Day

Today we observe Veterans Day, a day of celebration and gratitude honoring all military veterans of the United States Armed Forces. As the nation salutes those who have served our country, Nazareth proudly recognizes the valuable contributions of student veterans and other military-affiliated students to our campus community.

Throughout the year, Nazareth is committed to creating an inclusive and supportive environment that allows military-affiliated students and their families to thrive while pursuing their educational and life goals. The comprehensive financial and support services provided here have consistently distinguished Nazareth as one of the nation’s Best Colleges for Veterans by U.S. News & World Report, and earned a 2022-2023 Military Support College of Distinction recognition.

Recently, Nazareth’s Military and Veteran Services team began offering Green Zone Training to educate faculty and staff about the challenges and concerns faced by veterans and military-affiliated students on a college campus. Incorporating insight into the military deployment framework and transitional theory, best practices, and student services available at Nazareth, Green Zone Training demonstrates the institution’s ongoing dedication to offering outstanding support for this unique population as we continue to build our collective knowledge and respond to evolving needs.

Nazareth created a Military and Veterans Suite in Smyth Hall as a special space for military-affiliated students to socialize with peers, collaborate on group projects, or simply relax in a comfortable and quiet area where they can feel comfortable being themselves. Nazareth champions the accomplishments of military-affiliated students before, during, and after their time on campus.

On Wednesday, student veterans and their families came together for a Veterans Day Dinner at Nazareth. In addition to creating a meaningful mosaic representing the intersection of military and Nazareth identities, attendees learned about the many resources available on campus for academic success, scholarship benefits, mental health, and more. This was a shining example of our commitment to equity and opportunity, and I look forward to future collaborations.

To all veteransmilitary service members, and their families: You are an integral part of the Nazareth community. Thank you for your service and sacrifice!
